Queen Illyria

Queen Illyria was the first queen of the elves in Astoria. Her greatest regret was allowing her and her people to be tricked by Lolth to leave their home world. Lolth hoped by hoodwinking the elves from their home plane, that they would be without the protection of their elven gods, who were the evil goddess's eternal foes. Soon enough, Lolth begun seducing many elves with promise of power.
Queen Illyria realized her folly and watched with great sadness as Lolth's machinations corrupted her people. The old elven gods would not answer her prayers so the queen grew desperate. After finding a powerful Origin Gem, Queen Illyria used her high elven magic to turn the gem into a powerful conduit of magic called the Catalyst. With the help of most powerful elven mages, Queen Illyria used the Catalyst to begin a dangerous ritual to ascend to godhood. If the elven gods could not or would not help her people, then she would become powerful enough to challenge Lolth.
However, for unknown reasons, the ritual failed halfway through and magical explosion killed many in the surrounding area. Queen Illyria's body was destroyed but her spirit became trapped inside the Catalyst.
