Catalyst

The Catalyst is purple gem large enough to be grasped by two hands. Encircling the Catalyst is a single band of gold with script in ancient elven that reads, "This shard of light will pierce the darkness and protect us from the Deceiver". For untold centuries, the stone was possessed by the vile Night Queen, a dark priestess of Faluzure, god of Death and Greed.

According to Lady Sariel, the young elven spirit within the large gem is Queen Illyria, the first queen of the elves. Queen Illyria tried to ascend to godhood to fight against Lolth, but the ritual failed. Lady Sariel believes the Catalyst was the gem the queen attempted to channel the ritual's magic. After the ritual failed, Queen Illyria's spirit reverted to a child like personality, but she is slowly becoming her old self again.
Queen Illyria was a powerful wizard and along with the power of the Origin Gems, anyone that uses the Cataylst can enjoy some of her power.
