Rokuganian

The people of Rokugan are a diverse and colorful group of people. Everything from your average Rokugan Human to your Samsaran, Kitsune, and Nagaji are considered ' Rokuganian ' by nature. They have all lived in the Rokugan Archipelago for time immeasurable, and as such find themselves to all be native to this land. Unfortunately for many outsiders, the term Rokuganian is seen as a very vague term so they usually only use it when referring to the native human populace, since they are the ruling class in Rokugan.

Shared customary codes and values

When greeting a superior, you must always bow lower. To not do so is taken as a direct insult and may result in a duel or death. Ladies should always greet others with a bow. Samurai may never draw their swords in their officers presence or home except to defend him. To do otherwise is to condemn oneself to Seppuku. Seppuku/Harakiri or Ritualistic Suicide is a right reserved ONLY for Samurai.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Many Rokugans engage in Ancestral worship. They often talk over tea, or sake. Declining an invitation from a higher ranking official is considered extremely rude.

Coming of Age Rites

Upon coming of age, a young man may discard their given name and choose instead to give themselves a new name fitting of their new life.

Beauty Ideals

Flawless skin, light facial hair above the lips and on the chin on men, light white makeup on women, extravagant colorful and bright clothing

Gender Ideals

Idealistically men should at least have some chin hair, and shave their heads sporting long hair usually tied into a tight knot to fit snuggly atop the shaved head. Men should not express much emotion.
Idealistically women are thin, and wear light makeup to cover imperfections. Women should be hairless on all visible parts of the body save for her head. She should rarely cut her hair, and should keep it clean and tied regularly. Widowed women should never remarry.
