The human race has a long history of running from disaster. Where many other intelligent species had already established themselves in the world, and created safe havens for themselves, humans were left to wander the land in search of their own haven. For many years the humans ran in terror of the overwhelming force of the green sea. This is why humans can now be found all over the place, and why their cultures have become so diverse and strange. While other species certainly have their own differences and cultures, none come close to the human's diversity because of this effect.
