Breonis attempts to break bonds with the empire but it was brought to heel by the beginnings of the first aegis, Led by Arkyn Harthis, his fame cementing his role as the leader of Astergarde.
Begun almost immediately after the cataclysm, the First Aegis Occupied galessa valley and restored the ancient Astergarde castle, expanding it massively. The empress created the title of the kingdom of Astergarde In order to give sovereignty to the peacekeeping order.
The seventh regiment of the Vanguard of the First Aegis is formed, consisting of four who had awakened and sworn themselves to the peacekeeping order.
A member of the seventh regiment begins a transformation into an abberation - a monster created when an awakened faces extreme stress - but the process reverses for the first known time.
The seventh regiment is frozen in aetherite, but reported by their captors as dead, with their actions used as kindling to enflame dissent against the empire and the first aegis.
Arkyn Harthis, King of Astergarde, disappears along with a part of Astergarde castle's primary spire. Astergarde quickly begins to splinter as several factions vie for power. Breonis asserts political influence to gain control over Astergarde.
With the title of Astergarde usurped into the breonisian demesne, the kingdom of Breonis revolts against the Auralon Empire. Midland, Briveria and Vironia form a defensive alliance in defense of the empire.
Recorded history between AC 28 and AC 45 has been lost in the Purge
As Breonisian forces close in on the imperial capital Geronrel, the last empress Mydea releases an awesome force that destroys all life within several miles. After discovering what happened, all kingdoms within the empire declare sovereignty.
Dythism is formed within Astergarde. Led by the awakened Caphrael, the chantry of Dyth worked fervently to convert all religions to henotheism, the acceptance of any or all gods so long as they are subject to Dyth, the god of law.
Briveria and Orolis reject Dythism out of fundamental incompatibilities between beliefs. Midland, a largely secular kingdom, has little susceptibility to religious political interference.
Dythists, being in control of the only organized force of awakened, use this force to quickly destroy that which was largely undefended: information. Dythists simultaneously seek out any and all information relating to awakening or the events leading up to the Geronrel disaster. This is considered the primary catalyst for the forty year war.
Breonis claims most of the former imperial territory as part of its De Jure Kingdom. This move, combined with the Dythist crusade, pushes Briveria, Midland and Orolis into an alliance opposing Breonis and its religious arm in Astergarde.
Many awakened conscripts in Astergarde native to the kingdoms opposing Breonis return home. Some clashes occur as they flee, but most make it out unharmed, though castle Astergarde takes a lot of damage. The schism mostly happens over one night - referred to as the shattering. Several higher ranking stonemagi began to sunder the castle with great concussive blasts. In the confusion, much damage was done to the structure before the stonamagi were found and killed. Many fleeing the destruction did not return. The portcullis is destroyed and travel is hindered.
Breonis subjugates Vironia and Gildamoir, their neighbors to the west and south.Due to the mountains, Midland is fairly removed from direct danger and invests into an immense navy. Briverian war lineages are reinstated along the families closest to the Breonisian border. Orolis issues a religious mandate and forms the holy order of martyrs.
The first five years of the war are largely tenuous skirmishes while the dynamics of warfare are felt out.
A holy fortress city is constructed deep within the Orhelune jungles. While not verified, common belief was that the jungle itself had a will and those who opposed the newly annointed Orrai would find themselves hopelessly lost in the thick jungle.
A co-ordinated effort between the allies makes significant inroads into Breonisian territory.
Dythist forces march down from the luxus mountains and use the swampland to trap the Orolis religious head, the Orrai, and massacre the Holy Order of Martyrs.
The Briverian war blood legions are organized into a massive army that sweeps into breonis from the north. Led by Storm Matron Hildryn Storolk, the force is nearly unstoppable in direct conflict and the army reaches the Breonisian capital, Visiona, at the same time as the Midland navy charged the city from the sea. Breonis had ample warning and most key personnel and resources were routed to Beldemlann.
After sufficiently securing Beldemlann as the Capital, Breonis pushes up the foot of the Aethus mountains to retake cruxilmith. This is the first territorial gain from Breonis during the entire war, although they had lost the same settlement earlier in the war.
In an abandoned mine in Cruxilmith, Breonis discovers aetherite crystals growing within the that naturally rise. upon inspection, a number of the crystals which had broken off had risen to the top of a mine shaft. This was quickly put to the war effort and fairly shortly after its discovery, the first airship launched, drastically altering the dynamics of war.
After the first attacks on the capitols, Breonis mainly sacked smaller strategic targets, fortresses and even purely civilian targets. The disparity in air forces caused a quick expansion of Breonisian territory.
the aetherlight becomes dim and infrequent. Reports of awakenings slow down and new discoveries of awakenings are believed to have occurred before this year.
dissenting political forces within Breonis orchestrate mutinies on many airships with the help of the scattered forces of Orolis, Midland and Briveria. The ships are brought to midland where they are rebuilt with the advanced shipwright knowledge of the Midland Admirals. These airships are vastly superior and while they were still outnumbered, they even the numbers over the next several years.
Due to cultural resistance, Briveria is unable to maintain peaceful control of Visiona, and the former Breonisian capital petitions Briveria to allow it to form a republic on the condition it assist with the war effort against Breonis. There is some disagreement between the members of the alliance but in the end Midland and Orolis outvoted Briveria on the issue and the Republic of Avanus is formed. Cities south of Visiona more readily surrendered control to Avanus than they would have to Briveria.
Breonis is defeated by the collective force of Orolis, Briveria, Midland and Avanus. The remainder of the Breonisian fleet crumpled in the face of the rebel armada, their airships twice the size and reinforced with Orolis' awakened steel. Ruins from the Breonisian fleet can still be found in the area surrounding Beldemlann.
For the first time in nearly a century, the aetherlight does not appear. Over the next few years, the clouds in the deep aether recede in an enormous wall. Only a deep blackness filled the night sky with distant stars becoming visible once again.
