The storm matron rides south

Military action

The Briverian war blood legions are organized into a massive army that sweeps into breonis from the north. Led by Storm Matron Hildryn Storolk, the force is nearly unstoppable in direct conflict and the army reaches the Breonisian capital, Visiona, at the same time as the Midland navy charged the city from the sea. Breonis had ample warning and most key personnel and resources were routed to Beldemlann.

  • By the time both forces arrive, Breonis had moved most of their forces out of Visiona and toward Beldemlann. Those remaining in visiona are intended only to slow the siege down and cause as much damage as possible , both to the incoming forces and the city’s infrastructure itself. City gates are left open and collapsed on the troops, and the bridge arches over the Visiona river is collapsed, trapping the spearhead of the Midland fleet inside the walls before igniting oil that had been poured on the river, burning the ships and making escape impossible.
  • Hildryn is grievously wounded after losing an eye to an arrow, but recovers after an infection spread far enough to disfigure her face. She wears a pelt made from a one-eyed dire wolf to cover her face.
  • The briverians, normally restrained by Hildryn, violently loot the city.
  • This fosters a deep resentment from those still living in the city who were mostly only tangentially related to Breonis’ war efforts
  • Breonis’ pegasi are almost entirely bred in the land between the northern and southern branches of the Visiona river. Though Breonis had a number of pegasi with which they could breed more, their stock was extremely diminished. Meanwhile, Briveria and Midland came to an agreement to share the winged horses where war lineages and Midlandian nobles were each given a breeding pair with which to start their own herd.Breeding efforts and priorities varied between these groups, resulting in the different species of pegasi today
