The Great Forest

The great forest houses trees thousands of years old, and vast ecosystems that have adapted to the constant shade beneath the canopy. Many plants without good sources of sunlight have evolved to be carnivorous, but luckily don't grow to large sizes and only eat bugs, so we don't need to worry. At least, we've never heard of anyone reporting back to tell us about a big one...

Anyways, the forest is actually one of the safest regions in Asphodus (relatively speaking). Due to this, many simple folk live in cabins in the forest and some have formed small villages of farmers and hunters. At night, the forest becomes more hostile; almost every predator is nocturnal and most are powerful enough to kill any normal human. These predators have one thing in common though: they hate light. So all you need to do to survive is stay indoors or stay close to a bonfire at night and you'll be A-OK!
