Marv

Marv is a pet that Atlas took in from The other dimension. The substance that Marv is made of is called Tenebris, it is extremely flexible, can meld itself into a variety of shapes, solidify, and self-replicate incredibly quickly, but requires a mind to control it after detachment from Marv. The substance usually stiffens and goes into a dormant state when detached. Atlas uses this substance in a few of his inventions, but most notably as the body for Reaver suits.

The creature that followed Atlas back through the portal from The other dimension shrunk in size from the absence of Red Plasma, but it is more manageable as a pet while it's smaller, so he makes sure to regulate its diet, preventing it from growing out of control. The Queen wanted him to get rid of it originally, but she's grown to love it more than him. She even gave it a name, calling the creature Marv. It's especially adorable when Marv does things that a normal pet would, like sleep on your lap, and not eat your furniture whole.

Marv's mask keeps it's shape into that of a cute little creature, but once removed, it will revert back into it's natural state, which has been deemed "unpleasant to look at" by Atlas.
