The Magisterium

Sanctioned long ago by the High Priestess of Gaea Divided during the height of the Nevarine Empire, the Magisterium is an order of priestesses trained in the arts of combat. In the Free Cities, the Magisterium mainly plays the role of ceremonial guards of the city religious leadership, protecting them from any threats to their persons. In this they are subordinate to the high priestesses of their respective icons. In the Marches, however, the Magisterium in the Marches is a far more militaristic and independent organization. Their closest ties are to the Legio IX of the Sisters, but they supposedly eschew direct oversight so that they can ensure any Duchal leadership accommodates their religious and political agenda. Those nobles that oppose the Magisterium are threatened with the warrior priestess’ wrath.
