Lordship of Morlond

After the War of the Seven thousands of years ago, the Elven followers of Zenth fled up the Red River away from the ancestral Elven homelands, guided by their last remaining leader, Aelgrim. Journeying to the edge of their known world, the Elves came upon the northern Dwarven halls of Boreius. With little shelter to find and surrounded by enemies, the Elves waged war on the Dwarves, and after a long and drawn out struggle the Dwarves were expelled. Living in the tight and resource thin Dwarven halls changed the formerly egalitarian society of the Elves, and amidst bloody power struggles Aelgrim asserted iron control as Lord. He preached a new centralized power structure to safeguard Zenth's teachings. To this end he stratified society, organized raiding parties and trade convoys and instituted a harsh code of law. Today Aelgrim still rules the Elves of the North, but after ‘popular demand’ for his rulership to continue into the far future, does so now as an almighty Archlich. The ‘True Elves’ of Morlond are simultaneously some of the most skilled traders of the Westerlands and the most feared reavers, ruled by a council of subordinate liches called the Vassalry .   For more detail, See: History of Elvendom.
