Arcane Magic

Arcane magic is focused on understanding the rules behind how the universe works. Arcane magic users, known as Arcanists, see the world and everything in it as following a set of rigid and immutable rules created at the dawn of time, and by understanding the basis of these rules they can bend them to exploit loopholes and impose their will upon the world. This rationalist view of the universe results in many arcane magic users also being accomplished mathematicians, scientists and alchemists. There are other forms and schools of Arcanists, such as Vates, Forgeflames and Animati but they are fewer and farther between. Arcane magic users learn spells using an obscure language known as ‘Mage Tongue,’ which while based on a variety of languages, makes no grammatical sense.
