Mage Tongue

Many societies claim their invention of Mage Tongue. The Elves say it was their arcanists who pioneered the system thousands of years ago, while many humans claim it was a gift from Gaea so that magic might be harnessed safely. Dwarves and other cultures have their origins as well, but many independent scholars attest that none of these answers are entirely correct. Mage Tongue as modern arcanists know it is an amalgamation of magical theory from all of these cultures, combined by mages who combined theories over the millenia through debate or less civil means of acquisition. Unlike other languages, Mage Tongue makes no grammatical sense and isn’t entirely a language, more the means by which an arcanist bends reality to their will through complex theorems.
