During the second year of their arcane education, Phoenix met their soon-to-be best friend, a spellsword named Ivae Peral. Together they were assigned the task of retrieving a magical artifact for the school. This artifact, once discovered, piqued Ivae's interest, as it was a book of great necrotic power. When they returned to school, however, the artifact was confiscated by Merlonn Grimm, who used it to begin plotting the summoning of The Risen.   Throughout their time at the Academy, the two would have many encounters with the school's treasurer, a person known as the Opal Dragon, whom they later learned was actually the trapped, mortal form of Tiamat, The Chromatic Dragon, an Imus deity of greed and lies. Whilst Phoenix kept a safe distance, Ivae would soon step into their service as a warlock.   Phoenix would, during this time, begin having strange dreams. As a drow, the nature of their skin and eye colours had always been a mystery to him. Now, in their dreams, he saw it. A massive floating cyan eye staring down at him, floating in an inky void. These dreams would later be revealed to be more than just dreams and turned out to be messages from the Infra Deity known as Void, The Unknown, the most enigmatic of all the Gods. Phoenix would be granted powers by this deity, seemingly in exchange for nothing, though the influence of this being seemed to be causing some interference when it came to the sorcerer's arcane abilities.   The following year, the duo of Phoenix and Ivae were given another school assignment, this time they were to head to the south, to the town of Biggetyburg to investigate a strange infection that had taken place there. Once they reached the town, however, they found out that this "infection" was much more severe than it was first assumed. The entire town was ravaged by an undead plague and, whilst trying to fight off the hordes of undead, Peral was killed. Luckily, Phoenix was able to store the body of Ivae in his Bag of Hoarding and was able to escape the town without much trouble.   Attempting to resurrect Ivae, Phoenix and the Opal Dragon soon found out that his soul was trapped somewhere, later discovered to be the Shadowfell. It took two months for the Dragon to figure out a way to reach that plane, and together with a friend made at school, Mikey Wazowskey, they rescued Ivae's soul and were able to resurrect him.   After a few weeks of calm, Phoenix and Ivae were assigned to take part in the city's charity effort, which unbeknownst to them would lead to the slums being infected with the same virus that infected Biggetyburg. The two once again got caught up in a battle together with Mikey and another student from the Academy. Battling a monstrous undead, Phoenix would be the one to lose their life this time, only to be resurrected again the very same night once the battle had ended.   Whilst the infection in Biggetyburg kept raging on, the one in Konaïs itself ended almost as soon as it started, though the city was about to experience something much worse.   The day now known as the Day of Scales and Shaow occurred only a month after the death and resurrection of Phoenix. The two would, prior to the major events of that day, break into the office of Merlonn Grimm only to discover he had locked away the wizard known as Mordenkainen within a secret magical house attached to his school office. Mordenkainen explained to the two what the wizard was planning, and they headed out to stop him.   Together with the four other Opal Warlocks, the Opal Dragon himself and Mikey Wazowskey, they took on Merlonn Grimm and Amelia Vayne who were in the middle of summoning the God of Undeath. During all this, the city was in chaos, the Academy and the Adamant Archive being torn from their foundations and risen up into the air by some powerful magic of Merlonn's, he revealed his plan to be the eternal preservation of all knowledge through replacing Vecna and becoming an immortal himself.   This plan was thwarted in the end, when an undead summoned by Ivae killed the mad wizard and together with his friends, they were able to kill the partially-formed God before it could cause any more destruction. During this battle, Peral was the one who planted the bean that would end up creating the massive beanstalk that now pierces the Cathedralis Supra.   After the death of Merlonn, the Opal Dragon turned back to their original form, that of Tiamat and after a fond farewell, Ivae decided to leave with them to become a more powerful wizard.   Before the battle, Greggory Haelix, the head of the Academy's School of Sorcery had lost his life and a week after it took place, Phoenix was offered to replace him. He now serves as the school's Head of Sorcery and has expanded the school greatly, adding an entirely new house for people who struggle with similar "wild magic" to his own. These students began popping up more and more in the aftermath of the battle, and are now commonplace in Asharith.   Many call Phoenix the original Wild Magic Sorcerer.
