Aserere

Scope

The motivation behind building Aserere

I'm building this world as place for a new TTRPG system that focuses on:
  • Collaboration
  • World Building
  • Exploration
  • Immersion

Through this system I want to a world inspired by First Nations and Indigenous cultures. The system should pay respects to the values of these cultures and not make them feel cheap or used. They are valuable and they should be able to show their full value by players and Campaign Organizers.

I want a system for people of color and people with indigenous cultures that don't have much access to avenues to tell their stories.

Why the Homon? I believe in science and evolution. I find the journey to becoming this incarnation of human fascinating and wanted a world where maybe that evolution took a different path. The Homon have many of the same struggles as us and I hope through the game, we can explore empathy and compassion but giving ourselves just a little bit of space to realize we are all bettered by working together against the odds. ... Also the cosplay will be easier.

The goal of the project

I want players to build a world together and be excited to discover it every time they enter the game. I want everyone to feel invested in the party and the world together and not just in themselves.   Min-Maxers should be seen as a valuable asset and not just a nuisance.

Aserere's Unique Selling point

Da'Rai and the DAMP system are the unique creations of a pagan woman of color passionate about creating collaborative systems and worlds that showcase the depth of the human experience and not just a single narrow slice. Da'Rai is inclusive to all peoples and DAMP let's everyone shine in their own unique way.

Theme

Genre

The world is a primal reset. The previous civilization's were ruined by hubris and indiscretion. I want players to decide what kind of world they want to live in and build it from the ground up.

Reader Experience

The world should feel dangerous, hostile, but also wonderous and amazing. I want players to be invested first in their civilization and then in individuals.

Reader Tone

Da'Rai as a campaign world should feel dark and brighten as players improve their circumstances.

Recurring Themes

The Primal forces should constantly be pushing against players desires to modernize.   Firstly, they need to decide if they can set down roots anywhere safe of if they must live in constant travel to avoid the attentions of the gigantic beasts that currently rule the land.   If they find a place to settle, how can they safely grow their settlement?   And if they do grow their settlement, what defenses must they have in place to keep it from getting destroyed in a reset event.

Character Agency

I would love for players so be able to make lasting changes in the world. It should feel very sandbox, even in the hands of the most controlling GM.
