The Moon Stalker

Imagine! Tracking the a creature the size of small mountain only by its massive prints. A nomadic tribe informed me that alone, that I would hardly enter the creature's notice but it created an aura of such deep darkness, that I was at risk of getting stepped on or trampled by prey fleeing the Moon Stalker. I assured them I would take every precaution though they did not seem at all convinced. Just when I thought I'd never find the beast, everything went dark. I briefly cast a light spell on my stylus but it illuminated nothing. I was completely blind. I was elated until I heard a cry peal thought he gloom that chilled my blood...

The Moon Stalker is so named for it's propensity to hunt at night, especially active when any of the 3 moons are full and nearby. Entire villages - people and livestock - have disappeared before sunrise with no evidence of their demise except the presence of massive paw prints.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Moon Stalker has rarely been seen as the creature is nocturnal and creates magical darkness a quarter mile around it. Evidence of hunting can be seen in carcasses left after kills.

It's paw prints are large enough to stand in, and its fur is blue-black in nature.

Ecology and Habitats

It is believed that it digs large, temporary dens across The Lunar Lands. It occasionaly revists a den but under no seeming pattern. The dens are lined with its fur and evidence of recent and old kills. Where is rests during the day is easy to ascertain by the quarter mile of darkness that surrounds it at all times.

Dietary Needs and Habits

An obligate carnivore. It devours most of its prey. It's excrement usually contains bones and other undigestible matter, like weapons and armor.
