Slag Spitter Species in Aserere | World Anvil

Slag Spitter

Is there anything more detestable and foul-tempered as this creature? I think not. It covers its territory in patches of molten rock and mineral. It makes a terrific racket whenever it takes off, lands, hunts, or even sleeps! It smells foul and it is the only Almighty Lord that actually antagonizes another. Aggression, thy name is Slag Spitter!
— Loremaster Medici

A peculiar looking amalgam of a bird, turtle and perhaps something else, the Slag Spitter terrorizes that coasts and seas of The Great Ocean. It have been observed attacking every other beast type Lord that shares a boundary with it.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Slag spitter has an avian head from which is spews molten stone. Its head and neck are covered in thick, tarry feathers. Its craggy, shelled back has 5 funnel like vents that to help it expel the heat of its internal furnace.

Not a graceful flier by any means, its forelimbs are leathery wings. It often requires a high vantage point to take off from which is why it uses it's slag to pepper the landscape with high pillars. Its hindlimbs are thick, webbed and clawed helping it to climb and paddle.

Ecology and Habitats

It is the only migratory Lord that is not seabound. The Summer and Fall are spent nesting in The Slag Lands while the Winter and Spring are spent in The Black Sand Desert

Dietary Needs and Habits

While it will attack anything, it spends most of its time eating the sand of the beaches and rocks of mountains.
