Styles of magic

  Magic is real in Arylon. Depending on the person, that being may not be able to do that particular method of magic. In Arylon there are a few types of magic. the first is the Arcane type. This particular magic comes from space. the very space around every atom and the great black in the night sky. All space. A wield of the arcane touches it with a fraction of their mind to tap or bend just some of the either force that is, space. The user bends and shapes it to their liking, giving it form, purpose and force. Many famous mages of Arylon have tested and tinkered with it and came out with amazing results, which they then wrote and published in their Grimoires. They are now stored safely at the Great library of Arcane arts. mages who have gained a decent rank within the university may study deeper in these grimoires. Many famous and still living mages became professors at the college, now that they are no longer adventuring or saving the queendom.     Second type of magic is Earth magic. Not to be confused with bending and controlling the element earth. Earth magic here is spiritual in its development. Such as communing with nature, in way of communing with earth bound spirits. Land guardians if you will, spirits that reflect the environment they protect and serve from giants, stags and bears of the forest, to giant lions on a desert mountain and even massive salmon fish of a river. Other earth bound spirits in Arylon are Ancestor spirits, these spirit are mostly in burial mounds or tombs protecting the dead from those that would disturb their rest. Druids and Shamans may have this gift of Earth magic. Earth magic besides having the ability to speak with the dead or guardians of the land the can shape the energy to heal themselves or others. some can keep one from dying, some can speak with and even change into animals of their grove or tribe. But only of their grove or tribe. A Druid can not study an eagle if that eagle is not one of the animal spirits of their grove or tribe.   Third type is Wika magic, in Arylon witches can be male or female or both. The witches of Arylon all have coven magic that goes back hundreds if not thousand years. But the magic is tie to their blood. witches having sex with those who are not witches will not have a child from that union. But some coven do perform a blood rite in which the couple may have a child, but that child will be a witch. The child may not know that they are a witch but at maturity age it begins to seep through their lives. without training or finding their birth coven they will grow into warlock. Warlocks are crazy witches who have broken their coven's sacred laws or who experimented on their own without know their ancient covens laws. The magic that witches do depends on their coven. Good covens, yes they exist. do magic that breaks curses, spies on theirs with the coven type of familure . perform alchemy potions that poisons, heals or alters others things or beings. doing spells that do not break the sacred law of the coven made in ancient time.  
    The last type of magic in Arylon is Lesser Kabal and Kabal magics. These are sometimes called holy magic. Probably it takes a lot of religious acts to gain favor from one of the immortals, old gods or the god of their temple or church. Once one has performed a good amount of favor a blessing of power is blessed upon the priest or knight. Knights of the church are clerics or templars of that order. They only practice Lesser Kabal; while, the priest of the temple, church, or whatever practices Kabal or high Kabal, depending on the culture. the "miracles" or spells by other standards are only given. their is no experimentation like arcane or trial and error like Wika. No oral traditions to pass down and then discover a way for your people like in earth magic. Only through dedication to god or gods can you achieve greatness in this style of magic.

In Game:

These are talents and a character can use ONE. They can start at d4 and advance all the way up to d12. Talents during advancement are three times the die to advance them.

What is magic?

Magic comes from the creation of the universe and explosion of the stars and matter. The original flow of life. That that "have" magic means that their blood has active elements of the stars. All magic has a cost. In arcane styles magic burns the caster who is not channeling that burn into the staff or wand. That is why arcane mage have to have a stave or wand to cast. The item gets these little burn patterns that over time and item becomes more and more attuned to the caster, some staves or wands may only be used by that mage or the bloodline of that mage. Earth magic is the same way. But usually, the burns are formed on the jewelry that they always have. Druids/Shamans may use staves as well and usually made from the oak or birch tree. The same burning develops of time on the staves or sickle's that they use in magic or rites. The Only style of magic, in which this does not apply is Kabal magics. For the immortal or god is the one who burns instead of the caster. The immortal or God heals quickly from their believers. The more believers and followers the more power the god has.

Rune/Fetish Magic

Runes or Fetish items are created by magic casters. Runes are symbols formed and attuned to a single spell. It is carved or burned on wood or medal item. the ritual of rune forming must be performed to create the rune to the spell at the shed their blood at the end of the rite of created them.
