Sidhe Ethnicity in Arylon | World Anvil

Sidhe (She)

The Fae, depending on where what kingdom or country you are in the Sidhe may go by different names. The Sidhe come from the Good kingdom or commonly known as the Fae Wylds. The Sidhe can come different appearances, but the one thing they all have in common the very long ears. Makes the Highborn elves look like they have average ears. Some may have wings or horns. their appearances reflect their attitudes.

What do they look like?

Those that come from the good kingdom tend have many skin tones. Infact their skin tone reflects the humans or elves they find interesting. Once they have tone, they like they stay with that tone until they are reborn. the good kingdom Sidhe dress in lavish colors and have their own style. Even if that look may be strange to those from the physical realm. Sidhe love interfere with human actions, and they love joining them in their crazy quest. Some will join humans and elves who destined is to save the world. They think that is just the funniest time ever. Some have dressed and claimed to be the gods of the culture they're playing in. A lot of them want to see if they mortals will go on the crazy quest, that may or may not benefit the gods they are playing as.

Tuatha Court / The Grey Court

The dark and twisted fae are they Fea of the Grey Court. They are sometimes confused as demons or succubus. Not that they would ever correct anyone. Laugh when a priest tries to banish them back to the Underworld. they do make deals with humans and other mortals. the only difference is that they fae of this court will ALWAYS get their prize. If they made a deal with a wizard family to give them riches in return the wizards must give them the two children as the cost. If the wizard agrees. thinking they can just use a priest to get them out of this deal. NO. Maybe the wizard thinks they can hire adventurers to "kill" the Sidhe. That is laughable. NO. The Tuatha Court is the Fae of light and nature. They are the "fun" and good fairy folk. They take nature and Super-size it. Saiters and Centares can be seen as guards and civilians who have sworn to King Oberon.

They Do NOT die

If a Sidhe is killed in the material plane. they are simply returned back to the kingdom they are from and they become "reborn". the Reborn process is the Sidhe simply regrowing back into her/his form.

Naming Traditions

Other names

There is No formal names in the fae courts. The names are a symbol of the character and reflect the court they are allied to.  Examples: Silver Fox would be a part of the Tuath Court. Shadow Binder would be a part of the Grey Court. The darker, creeper names would be apart of the Grey court and the nature and Celtic stylish names would be the Tuath Court.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

All Fae speaks in the Language of the fae. Which to many mortals sounds like a lost language or dead language? Like Olde Gaelic.

Shared customary codes and values

The laws and codes always come from the Court of fae. The two courts make and enforce the laws of the kings of their Kingdoms. The Grey Court is ruled by King Solis who loves taking the children from mortals. He also loves making deals that benefit his fae. From taking the "souls" of mortal. the "Souls" is not the real thing. just as the Mortal dies in the physical plane they wake up in the Grey Court and they serve as pets and are given a thick drink that makes them younger and eternal.  Tuatha Court is ruled by King Oberon who loves playing in mortal affairs. he encourages fae to play with mortals. Mortals can work with the Tuath Court and even make a deal with the fae of this court without the risk of becoming their pets or slaves. But rather to bring them on adventures, sex, or give them things from the mortal world. The things can be clothes, weapons, armor, basic household items like furniture.

Common Dress code

Tuath Court tend dress in flamboyant colors and nature parts. like Branches and magical leaves falling from the dresses or shinning on their suits. Grey Court tends to dress in Creepy and dark colors. Swamp parts and bones of creatures can be used as shoulder pads or shoes.

Art & Architecture

Their art tends to be nature and made of nature but it super-sized and crazy as crazy as the fae artist is. The crazier and the more super enhanced nature form the better as far as the good kingdom is concern. The Grey Court on the other hand prefer twisted and scary aspect of nature. Like ever horror themed play or art ever created by mortals by more enhanced and possibly real.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

A young fae does happen and mortals tend to call them fairies. But faires are just the young fae who have not grown up yet and can take a while as long as mortals are concern. Once they are grown, they stay that way FOREVER. when they "die" they just regrow themselves and is known as reborn or rebirth. But they do not need the mother to do so in this way. their body can reappear in the kingdom they are a part of and simply reform themselves. Fae can never die.

Coming of Age Rites

Children are small and have wings and the big fae can lose their wings, change into animal that fly, or fly by magic talents.  Adults are tall humanoids may have wings though there is plenty that do not have wings, but summon them by a simple thought.

Funerary and Memorial customs

They do not have any.

Common Taboos

The big taboo among the fae is mating with mortals. For if a fae pregnant a mortal being the child will be a Warlock. Warlocks are half fae mortal beings. They will have some kind of deformation effect upon their person.
