Lurkins (Lur Kinn)

The Cat folk race. According to their culture they were created by the first Alchemist Ceridwen. they gladly worship as the mother Patron. The Lurkin people are fearless people. they do what it is in their hearts to do, and they will do it with passion. Whatever discipline they go into that is what they are all about. Not to say they cannot do more than one thing at a time. They can raise families and be pirates of the open seas. They can be great wizards of a tower of magic as well as being a stealthy treasure hunter. Lurkins has a culture that is vast. they not only worship the first Alchemist but also believe when they die, if they die doing what they are passionate about, they will be put into the cauldron of rebirth and live again to experience a new passion.

Do they have a weakness?

The only real weakness in Lurkins is the love for living and doing what will make their life's passion to their hearts. Lurk-nip is a natural weed that a lot Lurkin's love smoke or bake in the food.  

To find the Cauldron

the holy item of the Lurkin people is the cauldron of life and rebirth was stolen by someone. Now the cauldron makes healing and magic potions that specific to the Lurkin people. It represents their mythos of how the Great Goddess Ceridwen brought them to the world. This relic is one of the magical pots made by their goddess and now that it is missing one the magical things that Lurkins can make is lost.    

Republic of Pradria:

Lurkins and Lupins are allowed to love humans or elves. If they both agree they can become fertile through the Material Temple in the cities. Natural cannot be done. Most Lurkins and Lupin prefer their own people. Other Lurkins and Lupin that run into this very rare half breeds are usually pushed away and avoided at all cost. They are enough of these half breed in the Republic that people call them Beast-Tails. They will always have a tail of their Lurkin/Lupin parent as well as their ears. The rest will always be elf or human. Some say there is a Azurian Beast-tail out there in the Republic, but no one knows the name of this person or if they even exist. Beast-Tails only live in the republic. The only place in the world where they can live in peace. They cannot breed naturally; they must go to the temple of Materia to have children.

The Shilen elves tried slave them too

After taking the savage Keltori humans the aimed south and tried to enslave the beast folk.  The beast folk united quicker than the elves could understand how they organized so quickly. Lupins, kobolds, and Lurkins all unified under militias and would fight together on the battlefield.

Heritage talents:

Cat's Meow- D8the talent to communicate with other cats. Even if the cat is animal instead of humanoid. Hinder- d4 you only get every other word. gain plot point when lowering this die.     Natural dagger. D8 your talents in using your claws like hands as daggers when in a brawl or fight. Hinder- d4 claws are not that effective in this scene. gain plot point when lowering this die.     Cat's Eye- D8 talent to see in low light as you would in brightly lit areas. hinder d4 is in darkness your eyes see as if in low dim light. gain plot point when lowering this die.   "Pur-fect" Spell - D8 magic flows easier with this talent. hinder- d4 "Can't feel the magic here as good..." gain plot point when lowering this die.
Beast Tails can pick up to three skills. (Any) Beast tails if one of their parents is Lupin than the beast-tail will take on Strength over Agility. Lurkin parent Agility over strength. Their human or elf side may choose any one attribute that best fits their parent. Example Keltori father Psyche or Presence. Beast-Tails tend to have favored either the human side or their beast-folk side. Some will even tattoo whiskers and other marking on the limbs to show they have embraced that side. many in the Republic have tend to enjoy both sides. Since their parents have embraced both cultures.  

Heritage talent:

  • Lucky Kitty- D8 Every three scenes the Beast-tail can add lucky d8 to the total. Making it easy to pass higher difficulties.
  • Outside of home- D8 If a Beast-Tail is not in the Republic this complication will begin at d8 and will get worse as they meet others who find them strange and unable to understand them. Especially with Lupin and Lurkins who do not live in the Republic.
  • Beastly Temper- D8 in heavy combat a beast tail. will have to roll against their beastly endurance. (This becomes a difficulty die complication.) The bonus while in this state they gain additional d8 to damages effect slot. The Kayne teeth tend to be more prominent.
  • Night sight- d8 (only if 1/2 Lurkin.) +Bouns die to Notice things in darkness and in very low light areas, like caves.
  • Scent- d8 (Only if 1/2 Lupin.) +Bonus die to investigate or notice through their smelling air or things that have a scent.
