Selena has always been ambitious when it comes to her career. This in addition to her gift for the alchemy that borderers to otherworldly she started stepping on the toes of powerful people in the Alchemists guild in the old world.
Because of that, she was always feeling like she was held back. when she saw the chance for a new beginning without a council of boring old men restricting her every experiment, she faked some documents to ensure that she would be sent to the new world to be the town's alchemist.
Since she has been in the new world her life has changed drastically she was full if life and enthusiasm and made immense progress in her research. She even found a prodigal apprentice among the children in Second Dawn a small boy called Kevin.
Once she noticed his general curiosity and his sharp wit she started teaching him the secrets of her trade and grew quite fond of him.
All of this changed again during the Attack of Igbalneum The Emberwing on the city. During that attack, her apprentice was killed in his bed together with his parents. Meanwhile Selena was in her shop Herbs and Concoctions which was burned down as well. This tragic night left Selena without her surrogate son, without her livelihood, and with third-degree burns that ran so deep not even magic could fully heal them.
In the midst of this misery, Selena almost broke but was taken in by the adventurers of the Daybreakers guild. There she again saw the kindness and goodness in the world and even found a new friend in Stick who helped her rebuild her shop bigger and better than it was before.
While she still hurts both physically and emotionally her outlook on life has improved a lot compared to the first few weeks after the attack and thanks to a steady stream of requests and interesting materials from the Daybreakers her love for studying and brewing has reignited.
