Prayer to the Great Night

During the five Dark Days, the nation of Ohedyn braces itself against the Great Night and the horrors it brings. Communities on the outside of the Hedgewall will often send all but their warriors into its protection, replacing them with reinforcements from the nation's elite garrison. Even in the suffocating darkness, they will not light a flame or torch, relying instead on the limited illumination of bioluminescent fauna and flora to guide their defense. Those not standing at the ready to repel the unique abominations that venture forth during this time gather in sacred groves, hallowed gardens, and blessed hilltops to pray to the three Great Lights and the Great Night to put aside their disputes and return the sky to its balance of light and dark. They also pray for the spirits of the beasts of the wilderness, that they be spared, and for the Scourge, that they repent from their wild ways or perish to them. Despite the differences in politics and values, all seven Roots of Ohedyn come together to beseech the great gods of nature to watch over them throughout the Dark Days.
