The Hands

In most cities the thieves guild hides from the system; in Dolothea the thieves guild is the system. The Hands are a Medici dominated force of subterfuge and smuggling that protect Dolothea. Built around the idea that if all Medici thieves worked together instead of competing, then the city could be run from the shadows. The Hands maintain a presence in most areas of the city while ruling from inside the Tyrium. Many illegal trade deals are orchestrated for the benefit of the whole city, so that the protection taxes can be increased fairly. People who cross the Hands tend to end up fingerless by their fearless leader Vonna Medici. She and the Hands are a family who protect the golden isles from any forces with the intention of harming them.
