Agrippa Far'Drolaith
Agrippa was born to Alamon Veskar, Head Priest of The Vespidian Order of Eregoth hidden in the south of The Night Wood. Alamon used his power to lead by domination, using communal living to be more robber-baron than proper mayor. Agrippa was the realization of a deal struck with Vespida herself. Drolaith Far'Kyeris, an Erinyes, was brought to bear a weapon for Alamon.
Alamon was not a loving father, and Drolaith was brought back to Hell after birthing the little red-tailed, silver eyed boy. Agrippa was raised as a weapon, learning tactics, strategy, and arcane wisdoms as early as he could talk and read. As he grew, Alamon would berate Agrippa to tears, until he no longer seemed to have the ability to cry. Other abuses might have followed, but Agrippa became exacting, precisional, learning his Mage Hand, Eldritch Blast, and Ice Armor by age 6. During his studies two years later, he came across a wizard's journal. Before it got confiscated and burned, the young boy had memorized the Firebolt, Prestidigitation, and Shocking Grasp equations to near-perfection.
Regardless of his father's cruelty, Agrippa kept a secret generosity in his heart. He would find those most put out by Alamon's “communal living” and make sure they had their needs met, according to the laws they lived by; the laws his father bent. He dare not speak against his father, but he acted by the law.
At the end of his 8th year, it was time to bathe Agrippa in the Flames of Vespida and begin his pact with their Infernal Matron. Alamon began the ceremony, starting the chant while the village joined in. When he referred to Agrippa as "my weapon," everyone began to hear a voice emerge from Agrippa's mouth, but not his own. The seething, feminine voice frightened Agrippa to the point of blacking out.
He awoke in a pile of rubble, the village around him seared to ruin. The only recognizable thing was his father -- well, a charred corpse in his father's ceremonial armor. His little body collapsed again, exhaustion and emotion surging as he cried himself to sleep right there in the ash.
In the late morning light -- an unknown number of mornings later -- he awoke to an earthy taste he would later learn was a Potion of Healing. A tanned skin, long orange-haired elf abjurer named Adreasea knelt over him, holding him as she nursed the boy awake. Upon turning and seeing the tall, white tiger tabaxi behind Adreasea, he threw on his Ice Armor, but immediately turned into a potted plant. He awoke again, this time floating through the air on a disk. The tabaxi, a moon druid known as Neameriye, swore safety and health on him as they traveled. To entertain him, she would occasionally turn into a horse, alligator, or other beast for him to ride. They took him across the Valen Maru Mountains, collecting alchemical herbs and minerals along the way.
The following years were relatively peaceful, as far as living in the Deep goes. Adreasea and Neameriye took care of the boy they could have never made together. Adreasea recognized his intellect and potential, buying him his first spellbook in Aynor during his first year of learning. Neameriye taught him about alchemy and herbs, respecting nature to bend out to your needs, to break it only when there is no other way.
This peace and learning only lasted 10 years. One morning, Agrippa woke to find no one home. He waited a day, two, a month, three, a year, four. He used the skills he had learned to survive and further his learning alone, all the while taking the three day path into Aynor to make sure he had supplies he couldn't procure himself. He would take ingredients or make salves and minor potions to sell to shops in town, eeking out enough for the upkeep of the house.
On one such visit, Aynor was preparing for war. Agrippa stayed to lend what aide he knew -- herbs and firepower. When weeks of battle for Aynor ended, neither Fenheart nor Oakenshield emerged victorious. Lord Valkar took the city, and many of the adventures that had come in vanished in flashes of light. Those left behind, like Agrippa, had to make due.
He hid among the newly subjugated, using an heirloom of his mothers' to keep his mind shielded. He even had to volunteer his spellbook as if it were something he found when it was discovered by one of the vampires.
Everything changed after two months when the western breach started being assaulted by spellslinging orcs, who were strangely attacking the walls instead of the people. Those who still had strength and a will of their own began to rise up to meet their oppressors.
Then, a thunderous explosion rocked Fenheart Keep. Fire and arrows rained down on the rear. Another tiefling -- an older gentleman with a greatsword and heavy plate -- and his dragonborn druid compatriot stormed through the town crying for freedom. This was the time. Heroes were emerging to meet the vampires. Agrippa followed, wreathed in flames.
Since falling in with these heroes, he's liberated Aynor, reacquired his spellbook, met and saved Lord Fenheart, been cursed by his grandmother, fought a Boneclaw (more than once!), met a pixie queen, and -- most importantly -- pledged to free Hawk Island from its slaver overlords. It's been a very busy month.
