Undercity

"So many up above like to pretend that we don't exist. But like the inner-workings of a body, we are an ugly but necessary part of the city's lifeblood. And whether or not anyone up there will admit it; everyone wants SOMETHING you can only find down here."

The Undercity is the name of a large section of the Victorum sewer system. It serves as a small city in and of itself underneath Oreion's capital, housing a substantial population. Many races dwell in this large section of Victorum's sewers, silently contributing to a diversity in Victorum that many would rather have hidden. Dwellings carved into the stone, or constructed from scavenged materials, litter the Undercity.
Serving as a lucrative black market, the Undercity's central area is known as the Circle of Will. Numerous independed merchants and individuals for hire set up in this area, as do larger organizations such as The Syndicate and The Purse. Others who may not be welcome or accepted in Victorum's upper streets may make their way down to the Undercity to ply their trade as well. One of the largest permanent of establishments of the Undercity is the Rusty Blade, a tavern/inn that also serves as a loose form of governance for the Undercity, as many of the independent and Syndicate crime bosses frequently hold meetings within its walls.
The Undercity also extends into the large caverns and tunnels that were left behind by the Oreion dwarves whose strongholds Victorum is built upon. Given the excellent craftsmanship of the architecture, sections of the Undercity are almost as well built as the structures of the capital above it.
