Okolia, The Elder Tree

There was no fey gateway to be conjured from her; no ancient wisdom carved into her bark from sages long past. Yet here she stood, after so much of Arkos had been torn asunder over thousands of years. As unyielding and unchanging as the water and stone she rested upon.

Okolia is the name of the incredibly ancient tree hidden deep within Knothole Forest in the Kingdom of Velant. The tree herself is situated in the middle of a bowl of cascading waterfalls, and frequently basks in the glow of hundreds of fireflies with which she shares a home. Okolia is quite oddly shaped; a large portion of her trunk is bent eastward, and posseses only one large lower branch separate from her greater canopy.
Okolia is very revered by The Rovers of Velant, using her site as a place for important ceremonies and gatherings, such as weddings. Many Rovers, particularly the leaders of Rover groups, take it upon themselves to safeguard Okolia's location and ensure no harm is done to the ancient tree. While the Rovers are not generally religious as a people, Okolia could be considered the closest they have to a deity and a temple.
In terms of Okolia's actual age, not even the Rovers are certain as to how old the tree is. The few Phoenix Academy scholars that have been permitted to study Okolia are certain that Okolia is older than the land it grows on. Some even speculate that, given the tree's dormant magical potential, that the tree may even be older than the planet itself...
