The forged are a race of humanoids that distinguish themselves from other races by the fact that they don't reproduce and live like other beings.
Forged can be viewed as an elemental race. similar to Genasi or more commonly known: Elementals.

The first of the forged were enslaved humanoids that gained sentience. Forged have multiple subraces and are created from specific elemental sources. The current known races of forged are Stoneforged, Woodforged and Fireforged.
Each forged is created in very specific ways. Stoneforged and woodforged emerged after the influx of godly energy after seals got broken.
Fireforged however were artificially made by
Sarkan .
Children of Divinity
After the one god
Mystra (former) died an unsentient force she once guided was left behind. This force was called the
The Divine River.
During the creation of each Forged in some magical way the unrelenting force of the divine river touches the forgeds heart and it fills it with the energy of life. Each forged is different in shape but they share the simmilarity that all of them have a heart that posesses the energy filled by the divine river. When they grow old the heart dims and after it runs out the forged will die.
Forged bodies have small influence in how old they can become. Large bodies run out of energy sooner but are generally stronger. There does seem to be a limit to how big or small bodies can be. The size of the heart does not seem to effect how long a forged can live. Rather this is influenced by how much energy enters the heart. A proces that has never really been understood or was able to be influenced. Despite this many forged races carefully choose which seed to use for their children. Acting as if it mattered.
Religion
The forged all believe in one being, one god that created them. The god is portrayed like a large chaotic force with multiple elemental aspects that represent each race.
This idea originated because forged souls and minds work differently than those of the classic humanoids. They are born from the divine river and at death will return there. Because of this Forged vaguely remember being part of this unrelenting chaos. Memories of past forged surface during the entire life of a forged but they appear less frequent after a forged leaves it's youthfull stage. This also explains the affinity the different forge races have for each other. And the terror they experience since the birth of the Fireforged.
