Explorer

What's the difference between an Adventurer and an Explorer? One acts before they think, and one thinks before they act.

Career

Qualifications

Those have the courage to face insurmountable odds, want to test their talents and mettle against the strongest of foes, dastardly of villans, most nastiest of creatures... need not apply.

The Explorer's Guild seeks individuals with a curious mind, a nose for danger, and the wit to wether a tarrasque mating dance.

An Explorer is the embodiement of Terris Burg and an honored representitive of the Explorer's Guild and by extention the Terris Burg City Council and the people they represent.

Their hopes rest on the Explorer's shoulders.

What we hope to find, and teach, is someone analitical, quick on their feet, and knowledgeable in various skills. We will be traveling to realms unheard of, and you will be making contact with creatures beyond imagination, and yet... stabbing them first... makes for a bad impression as a guest visiting their realm.

So come sign up and explore the universe! If you have a thirst for knowledge, a lust for exploration, or family in Mystara, then come down to the newly renovated Explorer's Guild Hall!

Career Progression

As a registered explorer, there are various ranks that will indicate quickly to anyone the level of skill and worldly experience they have.

We split these up into Ranks, based on verified skill and merit of service. With various titles to indicate what that ranking is. Checking the The Explorer's Handbook will explain and further detail those various titles and ranks.
Cleric Dwarf Elf Fighter Halfling Magic-User Thief
Rank 1 - Cleric: Acolyte Rank 1 - Dwarf: Dwarven - Veteran Rank 1 - Elf: Veteran/Medium Rank 1 - Fighter: Veteran Rank 1 - Halfling: Halfling Veteran Rank 1 - Magic User: Medium Rank 1 - Thief: Apprentice
Rank 2 - Cleric: Adept Rank 2 - Dwarf: Dwarven Warrior Rank 2 - Elf: Warrior-Seer Rank 2 - Fighter: Warrior Rank 2 - Halfling: Halfling Warrior Rank 2 - Magic-User: Seer Rank 2 - Thief: Footpad

The benefits of obtaining a higher rank are quite a lot. This shows the hard work and efforts you put forth to help the community.

Payment & Reimbursement

The Explorer's Guild works through satellite bases in each realm we've established contact with. It's a home away from home, along with being a base of operations to help direct teams of explorers with their tasks, giving them the support they need.

After a job is complete, any money/treasure/weapons and other items are exchanged at the nearest Explorer's Guild branch, and the funds will be exchanged and added to your personal account.

This is imperitive that this be done BEFORE RETURNING TO Ard'Vanwa! Any and all items carried into the realm are Cursed and can never truely leave the realm.

IT IS AGAINST GUILD POLICY TO SELL, TRADE, OR MARKET ANY ITEM THAT IS Cursed . IT WILL SET A POOR EXAMPLE AND DESTROY ANY AND ALL TRADE REALTIONS Terris Burg HAD ESTABLISHED.

Any Explorer discovered smuggling unregistered items and equipment outside of the realm, will be removed from employ, their assets relinquished to the guild, and sent to the Terris Burg City Council for trail and punishment will be determined based on the severity of disruption the offense has caused.

As an explorer, you would be awarded salvage rights, and compensation for any and all resources brought into Explorer's Guild Realm Headquarters.   As an independent contractor, it's up to you as to which articles you wish to keep as trophies or for sentimental reasons and which to sell for Guild Points.   Any item sold to the guild after an official appraisal is awarded to the Explorer that amount in Explorer Points, as a way to thank the Explorer for their valuable service and to acknowledge their hard work.   [aloud] For example: Halgor ThunderHammer returnes from his expedition, and reports in that he recovered a vase, a few journals, and an enchanted dagger.   After examination by a certified appraiser,
The Vase is valued at 150 Gold Pieces and is a cultural artifact. If Halgor ThunderHammer sells it to the guild, he would receive 150 Guild and Explorer Points. It would be placed in an appropriate realm museum and it's history researched and made available to all memebers to reasarch.
The various journals are simply that of common people with nothing really to note, except it details some vague illusion to the fate of the village it was recovered from is valued at 20 Explorer Points each for the historical significance of the item.   It will be cataloged in the local library and allowed access to be read by guild members.   The enchanted dagger is not something the guild can display or use for research, so it would be valued at @300 Guild Points and be placed in a communal arsenal, where you can exchange Guild Points or Explorer Points to rent them.

The goal of the Explorer's Guild is to support our Explorers, who are our greatest asset.
The Explorer's Guild invests in people.

Other Benefits

As a member of the Explorer's Guild, you will become a representitive of the guild as an independent entity with all the perks and privileges that provides.

This can be access to unknown artifacts and locatiosn from ages past, to helping escort a duke and his enterage through troll infested swamps.

As dingy as that sounds, there do come many perks.

The guild offers free apprasial and a fair market price of any and all recovered assets from the jobs completed.

We have clerics on staff for healing most curses and injuries, including death. (charges may apply)

Perception

Purpose

The Explorer is something of an amalgam of jobs.

One day you'll be asked to find a lost cat, others will be guarding a prince on an escort or scouting locations and tracking down rumors that are reasearch oppertunities to learn and eventually break the Curse of Ard'Vanwa

It's clear what must be done.
