Elf - Profession

Career

Qualifications

An Elf's intelligence must score over 9 on our tests. An elf that scores above 13 in both intelligence and Strength tests is awarded a bonus of 5% and above 16 a 10% bonus to any ExP. An elf of that calibre should be shown their worth...

Career Progression

As all elves are naturally gifted swordsmen and magic users. Certain tasks may seem like child's play to an elf from human eyes, but we spent centuries dedicating ourselves to our talents before ever venturing into the world... The Explorer's Guild Explorer Points  system will reflect this with its ranking below.

The following graph shows the Explorer Points  cost of Elvish ranks, their saving throws, and spell progression.

Payment & Reimbursement

A party that hires an elf should offer the same amount as they would any other retainer.

Other Benefits

Aside from front-line capabilities, Magical aptitude, there are more things an Elf can offer a party.   An Elf is immune to the paralysis touch of a ghoul. and we usually can find secret doors 1/3rd of the time we look for them.

Perception

Purpose

In a group, elves are a key player in the dynamics of the party. An elf can both cast magic while wearing their armor, and use a sword. They still have to deal with constraints of magic memorization and the number of spells per day based on their level of experience, which is how an elf's guild level is determined since their longevity and natural abilities tends to throw off the fighter leveling tests.     Understand the guild level system is not meant as a comparison between job classifications, but to indicate the level of aptitude one has within, and allow other party members to quickly assess at a glance a basic idea of a person's qualifications.

Social Status

Elves are perceived as wise and standoffish. Many various sub-races of elves present themselves differently in a mixed society. The elves who sign up for the Explorer's Guild are expected to behave in an upstanding and respectful manner to any and all you work with and meet.

Demographics

Due to their frail nature, longevity, and low birth rate, Elves of various cultures gathered together and created their own grove of solitude. The last count of elves in Terris Berg was less than 1% of the total population.

History

Elven history is long and secret.

Operations

Tools

Elves can use all standard equipment

Materials

It may seem odd, but some elves have natural magical talents that can be used without words or materials! Often these are a result of a specific area's magic that imbues them these powers, should an elf be removed from that environment, those powers fade over time.
One way to prevent this loss of power would be to venture into that realm on a regular basis or obtain a stone or charm that is charged with that power, but one would need to venture back to renew or recharge it.

Workplace

One's idea of an elf in the trees, leaping about like a lunatic, when in fact, elves have been discovered to have made a home (and work) in almost every sort of area!   Forests, Castles, Caverns, Mountains, even under the oceans, tales of elves who wander into the unknown, and tame the lands, becoming one with them and protecting them with their wisdom.[/quote]

Provided Services

An adventuring elf lends its service and expertise for any number of reasons. Their role in a group is often that of supporting attackers since they can wear armor and backup caster since they can cast the same spells as human wizards.

Dangers & Hazards

The hazards of an elf adventurer is that of any other party member. An elf will be backup frontline support, or someone who will pull back attackers from their fighter, and cast crowd controlling spells.
