Payment & Reimbursement

A party who hires a cleric should offer the same amount as they would any other retainer.

Often times, a cleric will donate a portion of their earnings to the local house of worship or charity and will keep a smaller portion to themselves, but that shouldn't be something you take into account when deciding the split of the loot.

Perception

Purpose

A Cleric is unique in the party structure.

They can both be front line fighters along with healing support since they are able to wear heavy armor and shields.

It's often in a party's best interest to have one cleric that can take the place of a downed frontline, and once the battle is over, take the downtime to heal.

Social Status

Clerics are held with high regard and often reverence for their divine connection.

A cleric is a beacon of hope and goodness for communities, and often are leaders who deal justice with a compassionate hand.

Other clerics might follow a diety who is more chaotic in nature. This might sometimes conflict with some Explorers who have to work with them.

Just remember, whether from a chaos or divinity, clerics are the linchpin in most societies.

Demographics

Due to the needs of the devoute, and the nature of Ard'Vanwa, connecting to the divine has been difficult. A small number of people have been able to maintain a faint connection to the divine, and leading others they were able to build the House of Worship.   The total number of active clerics is quite small, but the number of Acolytes is promising.

History

Clerics in Ard'Vanwa is in a sorry state. The connection to their patron deities has been cut off when they crossed the threshold to the realm. Practitioners of Holy Magics created a Centralized Divination Center in order to pool together all the faded connections to their patron deities.

Over the years, the worshipers were able to piece together small threads through the mists of the realms to their gods, and established a small connection. That connection eventually was woven, with the help of supplemental deities, to form an etheric divine pipeline that bundles together the connection of the many patron gods into a sort of interdimensional divine fibre optic connection.

This thankfully was enough to provide basic level one spells, spells that assist in the survival of the inhabitants of Terris Berg.

Operations

Tools

Clerics may only use blunted weapons:
Mace | Club | War Hammer
They are able to wear up to Plate Mail Armor

Materials

A cleric's Holy Symbol  is their connection to the divine, loosing it will not prevent them for gaining new spells, but will make connecting to their deity harder till they get a new one.

Workplace

A cleric's workplace is in a temple or house of worship.

Often they will go on pilgrimages to help others and teach. Other times, the clerics among our employees feel the need to help and hear the call of duty, to try and make the world around them better. Sometimes this would lead to the darkest places, in order to bring to it light and healing.

Provided Services

Clerics can perform various religious rites, and cast Divine Magic when requested. This will often be to purify food or heal the sick.
