Talamhar the Forest Queen

Queen Talamhar

Talamhar was an ancient, mythical queen of Milos, popular in Southern legends.   For thousands of years, Talamhar is said to have warred with Spiir the River Queen, until the Hadrash came to Milos, and they were forced to make a peace. As a symbol of this peace, the two queens used their magics to create two sons from the soil and waters: Ghrian and Ghiilac.   Ghrian and Ghiilac were mighty warriors who drove the Hadrash back into the Sea many times. Yet such was their pride, that each vied to be favored in their mothers' eyes. This eventually led to battle between the two. Fearing for their lives, one of the queens interceded, but Ghrian slipped whilst trying to avoid striking her, and Ghiilac's spear drove into his brother's neck, slaying him.   Ghrian's blood is said to have poisoned the River Nightfall, making it a den of monsters and mother to the Fiirwood. Talamhar and Spiir built a shining monument to Ghrian, which Ghiilac was forced to look upon for the rest of his days. Tainted by his mortal sin, Ghiilac became cursed to live the life of a mortal. After his death, Talamhar and Spiir built a monument to him as well, though it was ever said that Ghiilac's was but a pale reflection of Ghrian's.   Another version of this myth says that both sons are alive today. As punishment for fighting one another, Talamhar and Spiir cursed them to pursue each other endlessly until the end of time. The queens' third son, Ithro (also called Siiras), would spend his life wandering the country and repairing the damage done by his brothers.
