Orvyx
A mythical beast said to have existed during the thousand-year-reign of the Old Orckid Empire, the Orvyx were enormous birds, formed of shadow, created by and compelled to serve the sorcerers of the empire. Most often, they are recorded as mounts the sorcerers used to carry them quickly across vast distances, as well as to lead their armies into battle. There are also ancient legends of the Orvyx being let loose to harry enemy nations.
Today, these magical creatures are most strongly associated with the Orvyx Mountain Range, which looks vaguely like a flying monster when viewed on a map.
