Ethelbrand

Lord: Erick of Clan Ethel
Sigil: Two black sea stars
Colors: Gilt and silver   The capitol of Ethel, the Sheep Lands. Ethelbrand has ballooned enormously in size and profit since the beginning of the New/Free Age. They were able to monopolize the sheep market, not through raiding as the northern regions did, but through generous market practices. Sheep were so accessible, other nations saw little point in maintaining their rams and chose to focus on their own monopolies, eventually losing their ability to breed more sheep.   Ethelbrand's spellers and arithmeticians were utilized with ruthless efficiency, using their monopoly to breed short-lived sheep, sheep of various qualities to sell at different prices, and most especially to invest in infrastructure. The Great Wyrm Road connects Ethel with Bastis and the Yfri Fields, granting them a foothold in both regions, and the Ethel fleet is the largest and most successful on the eastern coast.   Although Ethelbrand pays lip service to the Host of Hosts, and there are even vestiges of the Faiths of the Aernigh in the hinterlands, profit has become the sole god of Ethelbrand's most prominent lords, and their new religion is quickly spreading throughout the province.   Ethelbrand's castle has alternately been called the Sheepfold and Ram's Hill (and on rare occasion, the Serpents' Nest). Presently, it is called the Sheepfold.
