Erzuli Steel, called Khabarese Steel

A unique and magical (according to some) manner of steel-working, used for the forging of weapons. The Eruzli technique is named for a small town at the eastern tip of the Cickatrice Tail Peninsula, believed to be where the technique was originated. Some have thus argued that Erzuli steel was the province of the Ironhides before they were wiped out by the Irsadins in the Khabarese Crusade. Such gossips will further claim the Ironhides wore armor of Erzuli steel that repelled all attacks, and this was what gave them their name. Yet if this were so, how could even the devouts of Satar prevail against them? And moreover, what became of all their armor?   Today, this remarkable metal survives in the forms of various swords (and occasionally other weapons). The steel is remarkably light and robust, and beautiful to look upon, its bright surface filled with inscribed whirls and shapes that some have suggested to be a forgotten language, likening them to the Spell Swords and Charmed Blades of the Esterlands.   The technique has been lost to time, but the swords remain, priceless treasures passed down through family lineages. Entire wars have been fought over them, with Demir Vin Barbaros famously making battle against his own sister, Fatma Hun Barbaros, for the blade Selikir, called the Steelbreaker. Demir eventually prevailed, but the Barbaros line was broken, and the blade passed into obscurity.   Although most such weapons remain amongst the noble families of Khabar, many hundreds have found their way into other hands, giving them the modern sobriquet of Khabarese Steel, a term proudly accepted by most peoples of the Serifates.
