Mox Master Connon Ainros
The first son and second child of Prince Allad Ainros and Princess Fianna'al Ainros.
Connon's birth was celebrated by many as a symbol of the end of the Second Brothers Rebellion. After Prince Allad's death, Connon was made Mox Master to King Gwydion, as a nod to Allad's years of service. He served ably if unremarkably, shifting much of the work to the wizards Penny the Wise and Heather Snowfall.
In 877 RA, Connon made the singularly terrible decision to rebel against his king. King Gwydion had marched his army west to help repel the Urudunites from Berleigh, and Connon chose this time to seize Castle Magg and declare himself the true king. There was some legitimacy to this claim: his father Prince Allad had been named the official heir to Garland III as part of the peace treaty that ended the First Brothers Rebellion. Even so, Gwydion was a popular and powerful king, and rebelling against him was seen as madness.
Many believed it was the wizard Heather Snowfall who turned Connon traitorous. Yet if so, her motivations are unclear, as it was unequivocally Heather Snowfall who convinced him to ride out and meet Gwydion in open combat when the King returned to reclaim his castle. Connon gave up an enormous advantage he had held inside the castle walls, though it must be acknowledged that many of the castle staff were likely still loyal to Gwydion, and treachery may have been suspected everywhere.
Connon was disarmed by a knight of Clan Han'dylth and given over to the King, who blessed him before beheading him. Connon's wife (Lady Tilda Capall) and children moved to Revelback shortly after.
There is a pervasive myth that Connon and King Gwydion faced each other in single combat, but this is decidedly untrue. Even simple research into his brief military career reveals that King Gwydion always led his troops from the reserve.
