Blood Freckles

A fairly common illness in the children of Milos, blood freckles are bright red dots that appear all over the afflicted person's skin, causing itching and sometimes concomitant rashes. The illness itself is fairly benign in children, but excessive scratching can cause permanent scars. Adults rarely contract blood freckles, even from their own children, but those that do will find the red dots opening to create bloody sores, causing scarring and infections and often death if not treated quickly.
Similar illnesses can be found in the Mornal nations to the north, leading many to suggest the disease originated with them. Most Mornals refer to the illness as red spats.
