Scribes of Ormälskare
One scribe found an unusual text in the Temple library, in a language they were not versed in. They have been slowly transcribing a copy for themselves. Very Slowly. One or two pages at a time. They may need help with translating it.
The Scribes of Ormälskare are an essential branch of the Kindred of the Wind. Scribes are paired and assigned to a Priest to write down any words uttered from the gods. They also record the happenings in the Hall where petitioners are heard. When the Triumvirate are seeking the gods will on national matters all the scribes are present to create records for sending with the Prophets to the farthest reaches of the nation.
The Scribes who aren't paired to a Priest are assigned to alternate tasks for the day. They may gather herbs, berries, roots, seaweed, saps for inks and bark etc for paper. They replenish and preserve the supplies they have gathered from across the land. Sometimes they get items through trading specialty inks/papers for rarer supplies. Gathering supplies can involve long journeys. Often a scribe will travel with a prophet to aid them on their Journey and record the events as they occur. But with the secondary goal of gathering supplies as they go.
Some are assigned to duplicating documents or preparing paper and ink for the week. Others work on the Annals of Ormälskare. This is a long-standing record of the history of the organization and the words of the gods that have been uttered.
Structure
The Head Scribe oversees the other scribes. They pick new recruits and ensures literacy training is carried out with all priests and scribes alike.
Literacy tutors teach the daily classes in penmanship, calligraphy, reading and writing.
Trade tutors teach about the tools of the trade. Instruments of writing, different ingredients for inks and methods of making them, paper making, paper and ink quality and other essentials.
Public Agenda
Their goal is to provide a clear, ledgible account of the decrees that the Prophets can read to the people on their Journey.
