Falkhollow

Demographics

The Hollow is made up almost only of Gothian humans and halflings, with the odd Peregonian and Dyskhar present. Their populace is mainly made up of hunters and gatherers, though slowly settling into a more modern lifestyle, hence they lack proper wealth classes and most citizens generally have many different professions.

Government

The Falkhollows more or less lack a proper government, being run instead directly by the Gothangelic Order that rather see their region flourish even after a thousand year long dark age, which plagued their home. Hence, there is only a singular governor within the city, whom serves as a middle hand between the ordinary citizens and the citadel above.

Defences

A great stone wall runs across the entire city in a circular arc, which ends inside the mountain architecture. Within the wall, there are several cannons and firing slots to pelt enemies before they can come close, though else the populace isn't that defended. It's generally hard to march any army into the mountainous region though, with the seacoast being already guarded by allied fleets.

Industry & Trade

As a city which mainly lives on hunting in the mountains, the falcons have become as important as children for the citizens. In fact, there is such a vast amount of falcons from all sorts of breeds, that are being brought up and trained by the populace of the Falkhollows, to the point nearly all families got at least one falcon, though having two is not even a rarity. For the quantity though, the birds have extraordinary quality. They're all taught to be free thinking but loyal at the same time.   Combined with old Gothian druidic practices, the Falcons are also made more intelligent through ethical magical means, to the point that they can be communed with by speaking the tongue of beasts, as well as capable of critical thinking to the point of a teen child, but with a greater maturity and lack of the typical anxiety.

Infrastructure

A small shipyard, accompanied by a few watermills connected to a large carpentry workshop is all the Falkhollows really got going for themselves thus far, however the run down city has over the years seen some massive upgrades from broken roads and brittle homes, to a modern city centre with functional cobble roads and a brand new stable, as well as a large hangar for airships. The latter more or less being a requirement to traverse the mountains.

Districts

The Falkhollows gain their names from the Falken district, which is the northmost part of the city - also known as a big bloody mountain. This mountain carries a large roost of falcon breeders, the largest in human civilization and the birds can be seen soaring all over the mountain peaks, as well as Falkhollow Citadel and the Petrium Monastery that can be both found etched into the mountain wall.   The other noteworthy district would be the Gothic Square, which is known to be the more modern part of the city, where great stone buildings play host both to apartments for a majority of it's citizens, accompanied with the guild halls and governmental buildings.

Architecture

The city is built in a gothic style architecture. The buildings sport many large windows, housing complexes and guildhalls look akin to wealthy estates and cathedrals, made from rocks mined straight out of the mountain and built by it's citizens.
