Fey

The Fey are the all the immortal beings that live in the Fey Wild. They are divided into three groups the Children of Light, the CHILDREN OF TWILIGHT, and the CHILDREN OF DARKNESS. The FEY BEASTS are also from the Fey Wild, but are more akin to animals and monsters on the mortal plane so we will assign them their own category, although there is debate on this subject.   These three groups may contain many creatures that are similar. The differentiating feature of them is there choice of paths. The Children of Light have chosen to take a path that is beneficial to the residents of the Fey Wild and to the mortals. The Children of Twilight have chosen a path of neutrality. While the Children of Darkness are sworn to dominate the Fey Wild and any mortal realm they can find.   The result is that there is a long ongoing struggle between the Children of Light and the Children of Darkness. The Children of Twilight have tried to balance themselves between the two so that they avoid suffering from the conflict, but at times have joined with one side or the other temporarily to preserve themselves and their place in the multiverse.   THE FEY AND THE MORTAL WORLD
The Fey initially went to the mortal world to explore, and when they found mortal creatures of some intelligence there they set about trying to influence them. The Elves of Light have been the most active in settling and living in the mortal world. One effect of settlement in the mortal planes is that the children born there are mortal, and their offspring as well regardless of birth.   This has lead to major settlements by Elves of Light such as the @KINGDOM OF GLAMORA, and its scion City of Vell. These showed the dangers of Elves mixing with mortals. The Elves tend towards Lawfulness so the Kingdoms they formed had a high minded Lawfulness to them that poisoned their dealings with mortals. The Elves of Light formed alliances with others that they felt were properly aligned to set the mortal world right and give it proper direction.   First the Elves of Light identified the Dragons as a great force for Law, and entered into a long term alliance with them. The Dragons in turn introduced them to another group from outside the mortal world: The DEVILS. These three groups found that together they made a great team as they each complimented each other, and were able to surround the mortals and push them in the direction of Law.   First in Glamora and then in the City of Vell they tried to guide and shape mortal ambitions and progress. They also were working to shut down the great and terrible work of the FORCES OF CHAOS. Unfortunately their best efforts seem to peak and fail as the mortals will only stand for so much order before they revolt and return to the chaos they seem to enjoy.   Other Children of Light also came to the mortal planes, but they tend to come and if they settle favor the plants, rivers, oceans, and mountains over the people although they are frequently tricksters to the mortals if they encounter those they call the FAIRY FOLK. The same can be said of these smaller groups from all three groups of Fey.   The Children of Twilight tend to be largely in the group above that come for the interaction with nature or the mortals themselves. The Gnomes however, did have a large group come and settle in the mortal world. They came to find a place to avoid the conflicts of the Fey Wild, and to find new things to explore and experiment with.   The Children of Darkness have not had mass migrations as they are a smaller group and are more concerned with increasing their power in the Fey Wild. They do make regular intrusions into the mortal world. Their King brings his court periodically. The one group here that has shown some interest in living in the mortal world are the hags who can be found scattered about the world working evil and mischief where ever and when ever they can.  The DARK QUEEN is also known to come from time to time for reasons only she would know.   THE FEY AS BEINGS
The Fey are as a group come from another plane.  On that plane and this they are immortal.  However they can be killed from physical damage.  Most are sojourners in the Material plane, but those born here are mortal, and those that choose to live in earth do so as well.  In matters of most things they are just like all the other residents and visitors to earth, and they actively compete for land and position here.     That being said they have some unique features.  The Fey Wilde is an active natural world environment, and the Fey all carry some part of plant or animal with them.  This means that all Fey will have some level of plant or animal presence about them.  Only those Fey that are multi-generational as mortal and living on earth do not have this trait.     The Fey are multi-planer beings.  While Earth intersects with many planes and visitors from those planes come and go most cannot exist indefinitely in earth, or are mere projections, fey can survive on any plane that can support physical life.  Thus they see the planes as new worlds to explore, exploit, and use to gain advantage in their ongoing power struggle between light and dark.  Or, for the twilight to find a place of refuge from the struggle.
