Aon got a message from his mother, Astraea, saying that she just found out that Kira, one of his best friends, was unconscious and had been so for days. The Four Dragons decided to go investigate, calling in Yelro to watch the twin girls as they travelled to Wadesten via teleportation circle. There they examined Kira's unconscious form but all they could find was a bump at the back of her head, presumably from when she had fallen prone. They also did a thorough investigation of the mage tower, Kira's place of work, but they couldn't find anything that would indicate what had happened to her.

They moved on to question Bonny, Kira's girlfriend, but she didn't know much. They were told that Princess Ralenna, also known as Enna, was the one who had found Kira and so they moved on to question her. Enna's behaviour made them suspicious and Chloe decided to use the spell detect thoughts on her, discovering that she was harbouring uncharitable thoughts about the Four Dragons who had been her friends for a long time. Chloe questioned her on it and they realised that someone else had taken over Enna's body. That someone tried to teleport away but was counterspelled.   Finally Aon used the spell dominate person to get real answers but as he asked who was in Enna's body, it was Enna that responded. They realised that whoever it was had left Enna's body after which they rushed to Kira's room only to find that she and Bonny were gone. Apparently Kira had used high level necromancy to put her own soul in a container of some sort and then managed to switch places with Enna, instead trapping her soul in the jar.   The Four Dragons were unsure of Kira's motives and they questioned people who knew her, including Promise who had taken up the mantle of Duke of Whispers after Astraea died and decided to stop her life as a crime boss after her reincarnation. Promise said that it was very unlike Kira and that she had been acting very strange for the past few months.   They went back to Sandholm and asked Headmaster Wenna of the mage tower there if she knew of any spells that could possess someone in such a way and she explained about the spell magic jar. They also warned King Hatharal of the happenings Chloe talked to Bertram, also known as Bell, who had known Kira and Bonny since they were young teenagers and helped take care of them until they came into their own. With a list of old hideouts from Bell, they searched Sandholm but couldn't find Kira or Bonny there.   Later that day, around bedtime, Chloe cast the dream spell to hopefully speak to Bonny. Bonny confessed that Kira had been acting strange and sometimes seemed to break out of it, asking Bonny to kill her. Obviously Bonny could do no such thing and would do anything to protect Kira. She also said that they were travelling somewhere outside of Wadesten and that Kira meant to contact them soon but she had no idea what Kira was planning. All the Four Dragons could do was to wait for Kira's letter.
