The group spoke to the new governor of the Bonfire Ward, Elesbaan Danichew, and though he couldn't help them with a lot of information he did give them a letter allowing them to see the captain of the Coldsnap guards. The captain didn't want to give them any information seeing as how they were both outsiders and long lived, but his aide, Narina Faldralimir, convinced him that they should be allowed to fix the mess as an outsider had started it in the first place. So the captain sent Narina with them.

Narina told them what she knew of the missing people as well as the cult leader. A charming drow wearing spiky black armour. The group knew someone matching that description; Sonata's father Sabal.   The cult was holed up in the mountains up north and Narina offered to take them there with dogsleds but first they had to buy warmer clothes as it's even colder there. After they had bought warmer clothes and Narina had gotten them dogsleds, they headed towards the northern mountains that same day.
