Why?
The Dnd 5e Race options are broadly speaking a mess, inter tangled in mechanics is heaps of lore that at best makes no sense in the context of Arbor and at worst actively hampers your creativity. So this document aims to tackle that problem and allow you to relate the various races that exist in DnD into their 5e counterparts.
Beastkin
First lets list all the races included in the
Beastkin category:
- Aarakocra
- Centaur

The ubiquitous
Human everywhere and in all things the addition of Dwarves and Goliaths to their ranks is just to make my job easier Goliath are tall strong humans Dwarves are squatter tougher humans.
Korrigan
These are a distinct group of people like the Goblinoids and Beastkin who came with the Humans as the
The First Ones and they comprise the races below.
Touched
The
Touched represent all the races with a more unusual background and have only just started appearing a Touched person can be from any base species so you can have touched Beastkin or small folk and so on.

- Fairy
- Genasi
- Gith
- Satyr
- Tiefling
Races not Mentioned
There are a number of races that fail to find a home in any of the above or are perhaps too unique to fit a criteria and fit into the world, not saying you can't play any of those but they may require extra work
Robotic Racial Options
As this is a steampunk setting with no sentient(yet) robotic or synthetic lifeforms the below require extra thought if choosing.
Half or Hybrid Races
These exist in much the same way you would expect so nothing special needs to be discussed here.
