Goblinnoid

Much of the world distrusts goblins and their kind, not in Arbor. When the great exodus and migration occurred the Goblin people are one of the main reasons that much of The First Ones made it to Arbor in the first place. Stories told of their kind wayfinding through the worst of the Great Desert and eventually leading the people to Arbor and the Great Tree have allowed them to integrate with the rest of society in Arbor relatively easily. The Goblinoid species vary wildly in height weight amount of hair and skin colour, but they all insist they came from one great mother goblin millennium ago and that the differences in them today is merely from all the food they eat.
"A centuries old debt is still being repaid to this day and we must never forget the goblins and their kin are our kin" - Sermon by Linnea III on Founding Day

Physical Characteristics

Goblins have a number of ethnicities that fall under the same goblin species and from an outsider's perspective it would seem that they don't share enough commonalities to be a single species, however they insist otherwise and their ability to interbreed with almost every other sentient species has furthered confused scholars.

Bugbear

Of the three ethnicities of the Goblinoid species what you can safely assume about the Bugbears is they are a hairy lot, in fact they take it as a point of pride being as hairy as they are. Unusually strong even for their imposing size they can carry monstrous loads that would even slow down some of the larger golems. Their skins tones range from a ruddy brown all the way to blue making them a colourful lot of people.

Goblin

By far the most numerous and the most associated with the species of Goblin. The Goblin ethnicity is about 3-5 feet tall with skin tones that are predominantly in the green colour space but other wilder variations have been observed. In addition they have rows and rows of razor sharp pointed teeth. In addition they are extremely nimble creatures able to slip in and out of tight spaces with relative ease. Their ears tend to be pointed as well making some to assume that they must have some amount of the Fae Touched in them and it could be possible.

Hobgoblin

Smooth skin and very little hair the Hobgoblins look a lot like taller versions of their non-hob variety. In fact they share much of the same other features including the pointed teeth and ears. Their skin coloration ranges from ruddy reds, greens and in some cases grey so even a bright purple hobgoblin wouldn't be out of place. Some of them in addition have large tusks leading some to believe there may be a seperate ethnicity here but the other Hobgoblins seem to disagree and refer to each other as brothers.

Extraordinary Abilities

Most of the goblinoids share a remarkable resistance to the effects of enchantment spells this is perhaps due to stubborn and resilient nature but who can say for sure. Some of the Goblinoids exhibit a deep connection with nature especially those from the Bug Bear families even having the ability to communicate with beasts and plants though they do not seem to be able to understand them.

History

The Goblins history is one of horrific exploitation and a shared desire to seek greener pastures luckily in Arbor they found that.

Before Arbor

The times before the great exodus were some of the worst for the Goblins. They were thrown down on the bottom of the social hierarchy and thought of as less than alive and because of that were found doing anything they could to survive. They held on though and remained strong even while their population dwindled. Eventually though they rebelled against the oppressors at the same time as everyone else and together became the First ones, leaving their old homes behind and from their developed survival skills set out into the Great Desert and unknown.

Arrival

The deserts trials were harsh and unforgiving leading to many deaths along the way both from within their own species and from those traveling with them. Eventually though they broke through and discovered the The Great Tree. For the goblins they believed that this was a sign from the mother a gift from her to show that she still loved them and many still believe this though do so in secret.

Present Day

Now Goblins occupy every facet of society, from high born to low, factory worker to factory boss. They have lost much of their close nit community and instead have fully integrated with society deciding it better to be a part of something greater than to maintain the old ways.
