Hamia Lumberyard

When the small coastal town of Hamia was first being settled it was well known as a source of Silver Willow, a rare tree variety that grew in abundance along the Hamia shore. The wood from silver willow trees is especially well suited to ship building, with strong, but pliable timber. As the city grew, most of the silver willow trees were felled. To protect them for future generations specially protected groves were established. Now, Hamia is one of the only places to get silver willow timber, and the lumberyard is the only place that dresses that timber.   The lumberyard works directly with Hamia's most prestigious shipwright, who creates some of the best vessels in the inner sea. This shipwright jealously guards their plans and secret knowledge of making light, fast, and sturdy ships.   The lumberyard workers are also deeply concerned with the decay of Hamia's oldest silver willow trees and is desperately looking for anyone that will be able to heal it.   In the bustling lumberyard, among the skilled craftsmen and experienced workers, there is one individual who stands out as a bit lacking in intellectual prowess - Barney, who is known for his friendly nature and eagerness to contribute, despite his limited intelligence. Barney is a sturdy man with a perpetual wide grin on his face. His unkempt hair sticks out in all directions, and his work attire, although well-worn, is always slightly mismatched. He has a cheerful, childlike demeanor that endears him to his colleagues, who often affectionately refer to him as "Big-hearted Barney." Alas, he has difficulty with new concepts and when befuddled will make errors, often costly, with the machinery.
