Session 36: Heading to the Planes

  • Frostgrave - hostile, risky to visit. Kind of like the Yukon.
  • What happened with Garde?

  • Rashid was talking with Garde. He reasoned the golem has a soul.
  • What Rashid doesn't know is that Garde's soul was ripped from a human being. That's why Garde says Rashid reminds Garde of someone. Of himself. The person who became Garde had some magical talent. It was a mass operation to make many golems. (The gods may have brought down retribution?)

    Game Starts

    Talk to Carrak

  • he was counting how late we were.
  • Wants us to catch him up.
  • We take several days catching him up.
  • Stormy sang and has no more voice
  • He wants to meet Landis and Shimmer
  • Her dad is Mordin
  • Cita tells him about her family. And her Thieves' Guild name.
  • Carrak doesn't eat.
  • We ask about Indarin or Dimitris.
  • He offers for us to start - knows a path to take us to the Outlands. People there who could help us find Indarin. And those who would like to eat us.
  • Others have told him of the path:
  • Toward the bottom of the valley - to a gate - gate keys piece of quartz and feather - through a forest to a castle. last room in castle gate to the outlands. Can return if we have the key for the other side. Usually the same and if the gate does not move.
  • Can study a gate to learn it's key. Takes time. Follow traffic through gate.
  • Outlands - plate via gate cities to all other planes. It is infinite. Must have goal in plane. Much of the planes is derived from what you believe. There is MUCH in the planes.
  • Are gates common. More common once you enter the planes. A plane for everything.
  • Several planes of magic.
  • things to watch out for - ANYTHING is there. Deities have reach into the planes as far as their followers believe. Followers take them there.
  • Arabeth and Amanita have reach?
  • Have you considered the structure of reln of Arabeth with other god.
  • Brother would be part of pantheon - but killed. Shimmer's father - Mordin? Is he the brother? Fenyal
  • Yellow Bird tries to help us - quietly. Not want Arabeth to know. Forgebrother - warned us of Mordin and gave us the Bird Whistle.
  • Forgebrother told us to go heal the chasm?
  • Carrak has us write down the New Pantheon

  • Arabeth: nature, light, peace
  • Mordin: luck, magic, tempest and trickery
  • Forge brother: forge (link w/ yellow bird) = Yellow Bird: order, fate
  • Amanita: death, darkness, war, grave
  • 2 brothers 2 sisters. Light and darkness opposed, etc. All brothers and sisters.
  • You must find the place where it started and went wrong.
  • must bring them together - but they oppose each other.
  • Yellow Bird was killed - by Amanita with his own sword
  • Indarin - possibly the God and place? Maybe Indarin is Yellow Bird?
  • Resurrect a god to bring things back into balance?
  • Indarin may or may not be the place the Forgebrother showed us (the beginning).
  • The wizard in Session 1: Mayor's Murder - was trying to help Alador when he said to find Indarin.
  • (There are plenty of things We don't know. Will have to piece things together.)   Any way to communicate with Carrak while we are out and about? No.   Mirna - visited Carrak while we were gone. He's tired of the books - have read them all. Stormy leaves some of her journals.    

    Going to Plane of Earth

  • We instantly know this is weird. BRIGHT day. No sun. Air tastes like salty minerals. Temp, gravity, everything is kinda wrong for those new to traveling the planes.
  • Thoradin tests the minerals. All the colors of stone. In distance is mountain with huge crystal - miles across
  • Stormy takes a vial sample of this place and labels it.
  • Rashid - we sort of have a shadow. Like if we were in a room with 1000 candles. The air is luminescent.
  • Everything will change
  • Landis - you were an earth elemental. Are you ok? His arms are wide and looking up at the sky. Yes.
  • We follow the canyon. Travel a bit but we can't see Carrak anymore. Unsure of time and distance travelled.
  • Thoradin is to finds quartz. Cracks open an agate. (Cita and Stormy take them too. - flake of gold on side of quartz.)
  • bottom of the wash area - there's a path - beautiful layering of rock
  • maybe mid afternoon - day night cycle
  • among the rocks - big wooden gate - like a torii gate w/ brass.
  • has a tile w/ flat spot.
  • Cernan can see the outline of the gate. Sees the same thing with gate to Carrak and gate to see Arabeth.
  • Cernan takes a quartz and activates the gate. Frosted is roughly clear - path in grassy rocky plane.
  • Stormy keeps a quartz and steps through.

    Next Plane

    Path continues
  • like coast of Ireland, we smell the sea. Not the sea we're used to. Everything is a little different.
  • Stormy takes another sample
  • We can reactivate the gate with a sample of quartz.
  • Darker here. We don't know if it's night or day.
  • It's getting darker.
  • We camp. We take turns on watch.
  • We see stars - constellations un familiar to us. Bird and forge? Crystals.
  • Morning: A sun on the horizon. Comes up. Too orange - too small. Landis gathered all the stones and sorted by size. Forming a ring - biggest to smallest. Shimmer helped.
  • Cernan prays to Arabeth to see if there's a scent here. Stormy tries the flowers gift. It's successful.
  • Not a lot of big creatures out - maybe rabbits and deer.
  • path leads to a cliff w/ castle-ish ruins. Hole in the rubble - free of water.
  • We are pretty sure there weren't branches in the path.
  • Cernan can't see a glowing edge.
  • Shimmer will fly down to see it and Thoradin and Cernan can climb down.
  • Hole - Castle fell down and it's not upright. It fell off the cliff.
  • Rest of crew goes down.
  • Pause!
