Session 1: Mayor's Murder

General Summary

Catching Up / Backstories

  All but Cernan are all on the ship. The Wild Weasel (pretending to be merchant) takes over a ship. Opening the loot. An ugly copper plate - an invitation with everyone's name is on it. A mark, a bird on it. We all have been 'called' by a finch.   11th of Marin (August-ish). Feasts coming up.

 

Copper plate invite to meet at a farm

We meet Cernan in town - New Harnan. Thoradin shows him the invite to the Farm. Good family there. In the far past, odd magic things happened. Cernan OF Arabeth - hasn't shared about his god.   We catch up at the, Green Dog Tavern. Half-orc, Martog tavern owner. Likes to arm wrestle and challenges Thoradin. Bets going. Stormy and Rashid bet on Thoradin. Cernan bets on Martog. Thoradin gets his butt kicked.   3 Red Brands w/ capes. Are being obnoxious. Some come and go. Cita snags 1 g from one.   Stormy tells tales. Popular. +5 c. Stormy meets some older gents. This didn't used to be New Haran. There was a knight that gave money to help establish and build the shipwrights guild (, the only 3 story building. (Building F). Knight fought beasts. Knighted. Settled here. Centuries old story/building.

 

At the farm

Morning. Stormy promises to bring back stories. We tavel to the farm. 12 of Marin. We're all on alert. At the crossroads - we meet one of the kids. Last Tirsday, 4 merchants came through.   Rashid notices a background thum of magic. Snap from above. He sees magic hit a cow. Someone wanted to talk to Alador. We are now in charge of defending the world. Everything happening is related. One hand is guiding these bad things. Don't trust anyone! The army that's bringing the darkness. Indarin! Find Indarin!   Thus begins the campaign.   Indarin is a new name to us.   The cow dude was in his keep looking out behind him toward the North. Rashid mentioned Felstad - the thing knew that. Stormy scouts. Cita and I hear horses in the distance. On the road we came in on.

 

Under Suspicion of Murder

3 horses. Lead is Cpt. Borland, whom Cernan doesn't like. Wearing yellow and orange. One with him, Wrin, is nasty. The Lieutenant Garris is ok. Borland says we are wanted for murder of Mayor Udina. Cernan knows Borland works for the Mayor. (Mayor was liked, but it was his way or the highway.)   We have to come back with him. We are under suspicion.

 

Boar Attack

There's a scream. Dusk. Oil fire lamp. Something growls. Charging out of nowhwere is a boar. We take out the boar. Rashid gets the kill.   Borland will put us under house arrest at an inn. The Green Dog.

 

Investigating the Mayor's Murder

The mayor's body has been moved to Shrine of Denir. Body was found in the mayor's bedroom. Humanoid tracks - boot- trailing the blood. Guard broke door in. Boot size NOT Borland's size. Not as many people used to come and go.   We are in windowless rooms and locked in - grog and food. Garis lets us out. Martog feeds us. Did someone release the boar? It had marks where a rope was.   We visit the lighthouse shrine - Denir - god writing etc. We ask to see the body. Darine Marpleplum welcomes us. Asks if we want to leave books of knowledge.   The mayor's body is missing it's heart. Died from throat slit. Nothing regionally locally likes to take the heart for religion. Mayor Udina - from the weathly. Part of the family that helped form New Haven. This was the temple he attended.   Other Shrine, Talos. He has no "knowledge".

 

Yarl's Farm

The old Wizard's Keep - formerly the knight's keep. He Gareth's keep - the one who taught Rashid. Left his horse with the kids at Yarl's farm.   We visit the farm. Sim Yarl and family are half orc. The old horse is dead. Farmer wants to get rid of the foal. No one wants it. No one can ride it. Is nice to the kids. Warhorse. Voice in Cernan's head - horse says someday we'll ride into glory together.   Rashid pays the kids 1s each to watchover the horse who has no name. Call him Bridger.   On way - we see the boats they are amazing and intricate for fishing boats. Dragon motifs.   Cemetary. Gareth's headstone. Rashid does a firebolt in his honor and cleans the grave.

 

The Keep

The Wizard's Keep - no one lives there right now. Upper floors in disuse. This is NOT the keep of the cow wizard. Not much here. We search anyway. Structure is sound.
