The Devouring Darkness

I heard about a new creature never seen before that suddenly emerged from a sinkhole on the Atlantia Southern Islands. The island is mostly uninhabited except by seasonal fishermen.  Recently a whole crew disappeared after visiting the island for fresh water. When I heard about it, I set off to investigate. 
The only info I was able to glean from the survivor who died hours after being rescued was. The darkness that moves and many sharp claws and teeth. From his ravings, he saw a moving darkness, that devoured anything living in its path.
