These people are powerful beings, whether deities, ascended, demigods, or others. No one knows where they came from, only that they have almost unlimited powers. It's unknown whether they are actually gods or not, with power like theirs, there is no way to tell the difference. Any sufficiently enough advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.  

Some of these beings are Aeonians, Astralus, even Atlantean in the beginning. There are many beings in the Universe that less advanced beings would consider Gods.
