Dwarven Steam Locomotive

Written by Pookas Kreations

This train is basically a steam engine run by coal, but a Cinder is added which ups the power exponentially. It can run for longer on less coal, but will also be hotter because of the cinder. The process was discovered by accident when a cinder was mixed into the coal load that was added to the firebox, The result almost caused an explosion that would have destroyed the boiler as well as the locomotive and crew. Afterward, they were more careful with the mixture when a cinder was found. The search then began in earnest, to find more of this new type of "coal." Although the priests studied it first and discovered what cinders truly are.

This revolutionalized the locomotive as it now is stronger, faster, and has more endurance. This train was built as a cargo hauler to move large loads from the mines to the smelter. Because of this speed is not of the essence but reliability and sturdiness are. The only cars usually pulled are the coal tender, ore, and the caboose with another bulk cargo and rarely a basic passenger one rarely to marry miners or needed experts.

Power Generation

The engine was powered by a fire-tube boiler. In which the boiler was heated with wood and coal in the firebox.

Propulsion

The steam powered the engine which also powered the crankshaft and turned the wheels.

Weapons & Armament

When needed guards were placed on the roof to guard the train in case of attack.

Armor and defense

The train was made of sturdy steel and at times adamantine.

Communication Tools & Systems

Semaphores or Heliographs and other signaling systems were commonly used.
