Marini of Khara (ma-RIː-niː of KA-rah)
Her Radiance Marini Amaracti of Khara
Widely regarded to be both the long-awaited champion of Oristhane's future and the biggest thorn in the side of the Circle of Nine, Her Radiance Marini of Khara is the reigning High Priestess of Oristhane. A charismatic firebrand of a leader, Her Radiance proudly claims the role of being the High Priestess most beloved by Oristhanians across the nation; her charm and boldness have sparked fervent loyalty among her people despite her having only reigned as High Priestess for seven years.
As the priestess in the Federation had told the Amaracti family, their daughter did in fact manifest the powers of a firewalker: her magic became evident by the time she was only thirteen years old, and it strengthened as she matured into adulthood, as did her all-consuming faith in the will of Istha. Drawn to the faith from a young age, she was closely involved with the temple as she grew up. In 704, she reached the age of 16 and was bestowed the title of priestess. As an official within the faith, she quickly became a highly-respected authority within the temple despite her young age; community members admired her charisma and unshakeable faith. Between her devotion to her role as priestess and her status as a formidable firewalker sorceress, it was no secret within the temple that Marini was on the path towards a position of power far greater than her authority over the community of Khara. In 708, when Marini was 20, the reigning High Priestess summoned her to the Shadowless City, the hallowed palace site that serves as the home temple of the High Priestess, as well as the seat of government of the faith and the nation. Marini spent a year there as a priestess in service to the High Priestess, which the High Priestess later explained as being a time of study and contemplation for the High Priestess to confirm she was correct that Marini was truly supposed to be her successor. On the 1st of Sunsummer, 709, the High Priestess initiated the Ceremony of the Flame, in which she ceded her title to the new High Priestess of Oristhane, who would come to be known as Her Radiance Marini of Khara. Marini would turn 21 years old a few weeks later. Her Radiance has served as High Priestess of Oristhane for eight years. Notably, she remains one of the only High Priestesses in the history of Oristhane who did not serve as a Knight-Priestess prior to her establishment as High Priestess. Her Radiance's chosen omen sign, a symbol that stands for her in divinations, visions, and prophecies, is a scarab.
History
Born Marini Amaracti, Her Radiance was the only child of a Dimira family from the Federation of Vay . Her parents were new converts to the Faith of Istha at the time of her birth in Sunsummer of 688, and the priestess of their community in the Federation received a prophecy the day she was born that the Amaracti daughter was going to be a powerful firewalker.
