Esrana Nahlar (ez-RAH-nah NAH-lar)
Minister Esrana Mirya Nahlar
Esrana Nahlar is the thirty-second, and current, Minister of Ceryx. Elected as Minister in 712 YC, only two years before the Severing, she was a surprise pick; her competitor for the title of Minister was strongly favored over her and expected to sweep the election, but when the votes were tallied, it was clear enough that the election had swung strongly in her favor. At the time, Minister Nahlar was the first person in more than a hundred years to take on the role of Minister that was not a member of one of the aristocratic families of Mereni.
As Nahlar served as Minister for only two years before disaster struck the whole planet, she has a very short track record of governmental competency. In that time, she was well-respected among most Ceryssians as being an upstanding and fair Minister, if not necessarily well-liked. Nahlar has a reputation for being sharp-minded and equally sharp-tongued, a reputation that started during that time period.
After the Severing, Nahlar's whereabouts are unknown. Many Ceryssians believe her to be dead, though no evidence currently exists to suggest her being a casualty of the Severing.
